Colorado Springs, CO (September 8, 2017) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC officially announced the signings of Aj Ajeakwa and Shawn Chin via free agency.

Ajeakwa, 26, joined San Antonio this past offseason after having spent the 2016 season with Orange County. The forward helped lead the California side to an upset over the 2016 regular season Western Conference Champions in the first round of the 2016 playoffs.  Ajeakwa has played in 15 matches for San Antonio this season totaling 985 minutes scoring three goals. He spent part of his collegiate soccer career at Chico State University where he earned All-CCAA Second Team honors and was named the Conference Newcomer of the Year in 2012.

"I'm excited to be a part of the Switchbacks organization," said Ajeakwa on joining the club. "I'm ready to help the Switchbacks secure a playoff spot and make a good post-season run."

Chin, 28, joined San Antonio during their 2016 inaugural season where he made 17 appearances logging 821 minutes scoring three goals and adding one assist. This season, Chin has played in 15 matches logging 436 minutes. Prior to his time at San Antonio, Chin spent time with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers where he made over 50 appearances over two seasons becoming a top 10 modern era appearance holder for the club. Chin was also a member of the US U-20 squad in 2008 where he scored a goal and notched an assist in a tournament the US was crowned champions.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to join the club, " said Chin on joining the Switchbacks. "I'm ready to get into the game tomorrow and help the team get the three points."

"I am glad that we were able to add Shawn and AJ to our roster for the final push to the regular season," said Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "They will both help us in experience and quality to get a playoff birth. Shawn is very versatile and will help us in a few different positions and AJ is a quality attacking player that adds speed and quality in different areas."

The club has also mutually agreed to part ways with Jun Gyeong Park.

Both players will be eligible for tomorrow's match against Phoenix Rising FC at Weidner Field. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive the fifth and final piece of the poster series puzzle courtesy of Accelerated Wealth. Tickets start at just $12 and are available here.
