Colorado Springs, CO (August 8, 2019) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that Abraham Rodriguez has been officially signed to a USL Championship contract, pending league and federation approval.
Rodriguez has featured in eight games for the Switchbacks, making 33 saves, including two penalties. The 17-year-old goalkeeper made his debut on March 30, 2019 against Phoenix Rising. In that match, Rodriguez made 11 saves, including a penalty, in route to being named the USL Championship Player of the Week becoming the second-youngest player to ever earn the award.
"Abe has been tested in USL throughout the 2019 season and has proven he is ready to be a full-time professional," said Senior Director of Soccer Development & USL General Manager Brian Crookham. "His performances to date and the maturity he has show gives us the confidence that there is much more to come from a goalkeeper so early in his professional soccer journey."
