21-year-old Gonzalez joins Colorado Springs after five First Team appearances in 2018-19 season

New Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC signing Fernando Gonzalez made five appearances for Club America in Liga MX and Copa MX last season.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Tuesday the club has signed Mexican forward Fernando Gonzalez, pending receipt of his P1-Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC), and league and federation approval.

A former player for historic Liga MX side Club America, Fernando made three appearances in Liga MX, two appearances in Copa MX and 14 appearances for the club’s U20 team last season, scoring five goals. He also featured last fall for the Mexico U-21 National Team in an exhibition against Germany.

“Fernando will give us an additional goal-scoring threat as we head into the stretch run of the season. His movement and finishing ability should be a great compliment to the chances currently being created by our side," said Switchbacks General Manager, Brian Crookham. “We are thankful to ownership for their willingness to invest in this window as we look to close the current eight-point gap between us and the playoff line.”
