Colorado Springs, CO (July 8, 2017) – The Switchbacks overcame a 0-2 first half deficit to draw Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 2-2 after two early second half goals from Masta Kacher and Kevaughn Frater.

The Switchbacks were looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Rio Grande Valley, the Switchbacks took on Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 to wrap up their homestand. While the Switchbacks showed promise early, with numerous chances and seven corner kicks to zero for Vancouver, nothing came of any of their opportunities. Vancouver was awarded a penalty kick in the 38th-minute which Marco Bustos converted. They would double their lead just five minutes later as Sanner hit the post and the ball rolled past Moise Pouaty to give Whitecaps FC 2 a 2-0 lead going into the break.

"We had some good chances in the first half, but going down two nothing at half time wasn't good," said Masta Kacher. "We have to put games away earlier and finish our chances."

Steve Trittschuh made one half time substitution as Kevaughn Frater came on for Shane Malcolm. Josh Suggs would make a break down the left side to find Masta Kacher who cut the deficit in half in the 48th minute on a curling shot. The goal would give the Switchbacks new life as they picked up their intensity. Kevaughn Frater would give the Switchbacks their equalizer in the 58th minute as he took a free kick into the far left post, beating Richey to his right. As the match went one, so did the chippiness. A total of 8 yellow cards were issued in the match, seven of them coming in the second half. Despite late efforts from both sides, the match would end in a 2-2 draw.

"We did not do good enough in the first half," said Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "We did come back in the second half. But, we can't play like that at home, it's  disappointing and frustrating, our next two matches don't get any easier going on the road."

The Switchbacks will hit the road now as they face Phoenix Rising FC on July 15th and then Oklahoma City Energy FC on July 22nd. The Switchbacks will return home on July 29th at 7:00 PM for 90s Night. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive special edition Switchbacks FC POGS courtesy of Weidner Apartment Homes. Tickets start at just $12 and are available here.
