The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that three players from the club's 2018 roster have been signed. Shane Malcolm re-signed with the club while Saeed Robinson and Jamal Jack had their contract options exercised ahead of the 2019 season.
"With as much turnover we will have on the team, it's important to have players familiar with the club," said Switchbacks head coach, Steve Trittschuh. "These three contributed a lot last season and I expect them to perform even better in 2019."
Malcolm is returning for his third season with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Malcolm scored six goals in 2018, tying for the team lead while also adding five assists to his tally. He played in all but five games for the Switchbacks over the 2017 and 2018 seasons, recording 4,302 minutes in just two years. Malcolm earned the USL Goal of the Week in week 15 for his free-kick goal against Fresno FC on June 23rd.
Robinson is entering his fourth season with the Switchbacks FC after scoring five goals in 33 games in 2018. He was nominated for the USL Goal of the Week four times last season, including a nomination to the USL Team of the Week during week 25.
Finally, Jack returns for his second season with the Switchbacks FC after anchoring the Switchbacks defense in 2018. He played and started in all 34 games in 2018, leading the team in clearances, blocks, duels won, aerial duels, and aerial duels won.
