COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 14, 2022) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today it had signed wingback Duke Lacroix, previously from Sacramento Republic FC. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
“I’m looking forward to joining Colorado Springs,” said Lacroix on the announcement. “The club has high aspirations and I’m excited to help this club achieve playoff runs and silverware.”
Lacroix, 29, signed with Sacramento Republic FC in 2021 and spent two seasons with the team. A consistent player, he had two solid years with the team, making 63 appearances and 54 starts, as well as making four appearances to the team’s Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup squad this past season, where the team made a run all the way to the finals.
Across his two seasons with the Republic, Lacroix earned a goal and five assists, as well as completing 41 key passes. He had over 60 clearances and over 70 interceptions, with an average tackle success rate of just over 55% and a passing accuracy of 80%.
The New Jersey native got his professional start while still in college when he made several appearances that resulted in four goals to his name with the PDL side Ocean City Nor’easters in 2012. In 2015 he signed with Indy Eleven for a season where he earned three goals in 31 appearances. He spent 2017 with Orange County and then spent two season with Reno 1868. With a lot of movement on the field, Lacroix has earned himself fifteen professional goals and seventeen assists as a winger.
“Duke is a very experienced and well respected player in the league,” said Head Coach and GM Burke on the most recent signing. “He’s a player I’ve followed since his first time at Penn and looked forward to working with. His pace, work ethic, and understanding of multiple positions will keep him in our team week in and week out throughout the season I’m sure.”
