Colorado Springs Earn Second Win in June Against Las Vegas Lights FC

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO (June 17th, 2023) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks earned their second win in a row tonight as they defeated Las Vegas Lights FC at home for a final score of 2-0.
With 69.8% of the ball’s possession in the first 15 minutes of play, the Switchbacks had a dominant start to the match, with goalkeeper #1 Christian Herrera making several key saves in the sixth minute and then again in the 10th minute.
The first goal of the night was awarded to the Switchbacks in the 37th minute, as #11 Deshane Beckford rocketed a pass across the 18 yard box towards #9 Romario Williams who was able to one time the ball in behind Las Vegas goalkeeper #1 Leo Diaz.
Switchbacks made four more shots in the first half, and went into halftime up the point. With a record of four wins and zero losses when scoring the opening goal this season, the black and blue were determined to earn the three points tonight, and #99 Maalique Foster solidified the lead when he took a long forward pass from #80 Speedy Williams and tucked the ball into the bottom left corner of the net from high right inside the box.
Herrera would make several more high impact saves throughout the night, including a free kick up against the box by Las Vegas in the final minutes of play, but our opponent would remain unsuccessful in finding the back of the net and the final score would read 2-0 for the Switchbacks.
The Colorado Springs Switchbacks will be on the road for the rest of June, they return home to Weidner Field for a 4th of July weekend double header as they take on The Miami FC on July 1st and Monterey Bay FC on July 4th. For tickets to that match, and all others, head HERE.
