COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (November 5th, 2023) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that Romario Williams, Devon “Speedy” Williams, Tyreek Magee & Deshane Beckford have been selected by Jamaica for its upcoming international exhibition against Guatemala at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, November 11.
Romario Williams has previously made 17 appearances for the Reggae Boyz, scoring three goals and one assist in his international career. This past USL Championship season, the 29-year-old made 30 appearances for the Switchbacks and led the team with 15 goals – matching an individual single-season high – while also recording three assists.
Speedy Williams has made 35 appearances for Jamaica in his career, having appeared at two editions of the CONCACAF Gold Cup with the squad while recording one goal and one assist. The three-time USL Championship title winner recorded 2,925 minutes in his first season with the Switchbacks this past season and recorded four assists, 39 chances created, and an 84.2% passing accuracy rate.
Magee made his first appearance for the Reggae Boyz in 2019 and has made nine appearances overall for the side, including at the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup. The 24-year-old made a big impact in his first season with the Switchbacks this past year, recording three goals, two assists, and 26 chances created.
Beckford, meanwhile, will be hoping to make his second appearance in his international career, having last seen action for Jamaica against Peru in an international exhibition last year. The 25-year-old winger made an impactful return in Colorado Springs returning from San Antonio as he recorded two goals and four assists in 32 appearances.
R. Williams will stay with the Senior Team for the Nations League Quarterfinals following the exhibition. Jamaica is set to face Canada in Kingston on Friday, November 17th at 5 p.m. MT. and then again on Tuesday, November 21st at 6 p.m. MT in Toronto.
