Colorado Springs, CO (August 12, 2026) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and the USL Championship officially announced today that Head Coach Alan McCann has been named July’s Coach of the Month, recognizing an outstanding stretch of performances.
During July, the Switchbacks played four matches across all competitions, earning victories in all four. Over the course of the month, the team scored 10 goals while maintaining a strong defensive presence, recording 61 clearances and two clean sheets.
Facing top-tier opponents such as Orange County and Charleston, who sit near the top of their respective conferences, the Switchbacks were tested in competitive matches where every point mattered. Under McCann’s leadership, the team controlled 61% of possession and recorded 33 interceptions, showcasing its ability to dictate play while remaining disciplined defensively.
One of the month’s standout matches came against the Charleston Battery, with the Switchbacks earning a dramatic 2-1 victory. Adrien Perez opened the scoring, giving the Switchbacks an early advantage. Charleston responded with an equalizer in the 81′, putting the pressure back on the home side to find a winner.
With the clock winding down and three points within reach, Jonas Fjeldberg delivered in stoppage time, finding the back of the net to secure the 2-1 victory. The late winner capped off an impressive month for the Switchbacks and extended their perfect July record to four wins.
