Colorado Springs, CO (August 8, 2026) — Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC fall 2-0 to Rhode Island FC on Saturday night in Pawtucket.
The Switchbacks controlled the pace for much of the first half, holding 58% possession while recording five shots and completing 164 accurate passes.
Rhode Island broke the scoreless tie in the 69’ when #14 Yutaro Tsukada’s initial shot was deflected right back to him before scoring off the rebound to give Rhode Island a 1-0 lead.
The Switchbacks continued to search for an equalizer in the second half, controlling 61.4% possession and firing seven shots. However, Rhode Island capitalized on a late mistake in stoppage time, allowing #9 JJ Williams to find the back of the net and make it 2-0 in the 90+2’.
Switchbacks #10 Adrien Perez finished the team with five shots, and #7 Jonas Fjeldberg fired three from inside the box. #37 Brennan Creek won 11 of 13 duels.
