Colorado Springs, CO (September 11, 2026) — Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC secured three crucial points in the Western Conference standings with a 2-1 victory over San Antonio FC on Friday night for their third regular season win in a row.
The Switchbacks controlled 54.8% of possession and completed 87.3% of their passes during a hard fought opening half, but the two sides would head into halftime scoreless.
Colorado Springs struck first in the 67’. #24 Talen Maples delivered a ball from the center line to #7 Jonas Fjeldberg, who fired a shot from just inside the box past San Antonio goalkeeper #0 Joey Batrouni and into the bottom left corner of the net, putting the hosts up 1-0. The goal would mark Fjeldberg’s fourth in his last four matches across all competitions.
Just three minutes later, #8 Frank Daroma gained possession and dribbled into the box before making a pass splitting two San Antonio defenders finding #90 Khori Bennett right in front of the net. Bennett finished the opportunity for his league-leading 14 goals of the regular season, extending the Switchbacks’ advantage to 2-0 in the 70’.
San Antonio cut the deficit in half in the 82’ when #17 Daniel Barbir found #22 Emil Cuello, whose shot found the back of the net to make it 2-1.
Colorado Springs held on for the remainder of the second half, sealing the 2-1 victory and earning three points against a Western Conference opponent as the playoff picture begins to take shape.
