Switchbacks FC Unified Team

Switchbacks FC Unified Team

The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Special Olympics Colorado have partnered together to create the first ever Special Olympics Unified soccer team of the USL.

After an impressive weekend of tryouts, a final team was named for the 2020-2021 season. The team is made up of 20 players, all over the age of sixteen, and is a blend of players with intellectual disabilities and peer partners who will assist in game play.

As the first of its kind in the USL Championship, the hope of the Switchbacks FC Unified Team is to be an example for other teams in the USL and encourage the development of other Unified Teams across the country. Their mission is to create opportunities for people with disabilities to be included in all sports.

For this season the Switchbacks FC Unified Team will play on September 15 at Weidner Field and October 23 at Dicks Sporting Goods Park. We want to create opportunities for people with disabilities to be included in all sports.
