Colorado Springs, CO (September 22, 2026) — The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that Christian Herrera has been named to the USL Championship’s Team of the Week Bench, presented by SiteOne, for week 29 of the 2026 season.
After a clean sheet at home, Herrera played a key role for the Switchbacks as they battled Western Conference rivals New Mexico United last Saturday night. Herrera made three saves, including a massive one in the 48′. New Mexico United player had a one-on-one chance up against Herrera, but with an extension of his right arm, Herrera blocked the shot, not allowing New Mexico to score.
“In that moment, it’s just about kind of holding my ground, waiting for the defenders to put pressure on him,” said Herrera about his save. “So in the final moment, he has the most pressure on him, and then I make myself big.”
