The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC officially announced they have signed Sam Hamilton on loan from the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer.
A University of Denver product, Hamilton was the 15th overall pick in the MLS Superdraft where we signed a contract on March 4, 2017. He made his professional debut replacing Dillon Power in a loss to Chicago Fire on the road. His first start came in a 1-2 loss at Philadelphia where he played 81 minutes. In his four collegiate seasons at DU, Hamilton appeared in a total of 83 matches, which ranks him first in DU's Division I history.
Hamilton will be available for tomorrow's match against Orange County SC. Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreement, the Rapids retain the right to recall Hamilton at any point during the remainder of the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
The Switchbacks will head back to California to face 2nd place Orange County before returning home to face Reno 1868 FC on May 5th at 6:00 PM for Cinco de Mayo. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a plush seat cushions courtesy of Colorado Technical University. Tickets start at just $12 and are available here. Fans 21+ can get $1 beer the first 30 minutes when gates open at 5:00 PM.
