On Saturday, July 31st, members of the Switchbacks FC staff attended the Colorado Springs Sesquicentennial Parade, which celebrated the 150th anniversary of the founding of Colorado Springs.
The staff had spent the previous week designing and building their float for the parade, which represented the Pikes Peak mountains on two sides and showed off the signature stripes of our players' jerseys on the other two sides. The staff wore playful inflatable horse costumes and ten gallon hats, paying homage to General Palmer and his distinctive look.
Thousands of families from around Colorado Springs gathered together to enjoy the parade, which included floats and displays from nearly 100 businesses and organizations in the city.
After the parade, the city held a booth festival, where companies could display their wares or provide an educational opportunity for what they represented. The Olympic and Paralympic Museum held a Tokyo Fan Fest area, with the surrounding booths being dedicated to sports experiences, including the Switchbacks' booth with a penalty kick net.
