Colorado Springs, CO (December 15th, 2021) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Tuesday the club had signed midfielder Issa Rayyan, pending league and federation approval.
“I’m excited to join a great organization with such a professional environment surrounded by amazing fans in a sweet stadium,” said Rayyan about the signing. “[I’m] pumped to join a talented group of players, and an even better staff.”
Rayyan came up in the Philadelphia Union Academy and made his first professional debut at 16 when he subbed on for the Bethlehem Steel of the United Soccer League in 2017. He made one more appearance for them before going on to play college soccer at Duke University. In 2019, after one season with Duke, he signed a professional contract with Bethlehem Steel, whose coach at the time was the current Head Coach of the Switchbacks, Brendan Burke. There he notched 4 goals and 3 assists, playing in 26 of the team’s 34 games. Rayyan spent the 2021 season signed to Tacoma Defiance FC of the USL Championship.
“Issa is a versatile player that we watched develop in Philadelphia," said Coach Brendan Burke. "We have watched him perform at this level and think he will be an excellent addition to our team.
