Colorado Springs, CO (April 23, 2022) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC won on the road this evening against FC Tulsa, for a six and one record that puts them at the top of the standings for the Western Conference.
The match started with Tulsa gaining early possession, gaining the ball near the net but unable to convert it with the ball going wide. However the Switchbacks were quick to gain the ball back, and in the 12′ #10 Hadji Barry completed a pass from #11 Michee Ngalina, taking the ball up the center line and shooting it just under the crossbar to net the first goal of the match.
FC Tulsa had an opportunity to repay the favor when in the 38′ Rivas shot a left footed rocket from the right side of the penalty box that curved just wide to the left of the net and out of play. One minute later, the Switchbacks would find the back of the net again as #33 Isaiah Foster scored his first ever professional goal, shooting straight and low right in front of the goal off a pass from #8 Zach Zandi.
The second half of the match started with several yellows for Tulsa, providing the Switchbacks with two back to back free kicks they were unable to convert. Switchbacks goalkeeper Jeff Caldwell had several excellent saves this evening, most notably in the 78′ after Brown from FC Tulsa went one on one and shot the ball from the left side of the box towards the top right corner, but instead finding Caldwell’s leg with a quick reflex. The rest of the match would result in more changes to the board, and the match ended with another clean sheet for the Switchbacks and a score of 0-2.
The Switchbacks will take to the road again for their April 30th match against Oakland Roots SC. They will return home on May 5th as they take on Rio Grande Valley FC in a Cinco de Mayo showdown. Tickets to that match, and all other matches, available HERE.
