Colorado Springs, CO (April 9, 2022) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC are the only team in the league with a perfect record, after rallying from behind to win against Las Vegas Lights FC 3-2. The Switchbacks took lead of the game early on, with Elvis Amoh gaining two early opportunities for goals that were ultimately saved by Lights FC goalkeeper Abraham Romero. The first goal of the game came from Amoh in the 22nd minute off an angled cross from Matt Mahoney, which enabled him to head the the ball into the left corner. With two minutes to go in the half, Las Vegas Lights FC tied it up off an unfortunate own goal just inside the box. Going into the second half the Switchbacks had multiple chances but were unable to convert anything to goals, and just past the 60′ the Las Vegas Lights FC took the lead with a goal by Cal Jennings. The Switchbacks were able to tie it up in the 69th minute when Zach Zandi knocked a finish from the right side penalty area into the top of the box. Only six minutes later Cam Lindley dropped one in from 25 yards outside the box to take the lead again. Vegas was ultimately unable to retaliate and the final score of 3-2 propelled Switchbacks to the top spot in the league, with their longest win streak in club history.
