Colorado Springs, CO (June 28, 2022) – The Switchbacks FC suffered a disappointing loss against Hartford Athletic tonight, with the final score at 0-2.
The Switchbacks started play with a nearly unrecognizable starting XI, after making seven changes to their line up as compared to last Friday’s game against San Antonio. With four games in only ten days, the Switchbacks were looking to make some rotations to preserve the longevity of their players, and instead were met with a determined and fast paced game against Hartford Athletic.
Defense was the name of the game in the first half, and in 45 minutes of play the Switchbacks had just edged out HFD with a 52% possession rate, and with only eight shots on goal (Hartford had four) the first half would conclude 0-0.
Coach Burke made some subs in the second half, in the hope of adding some energy to the match and nab a win, but unfortunately the change of the lineup wouldn’t have an impact on the field, and Hartford Athletic would get two goals in five minutes that the Switchbacks would be unable to answer.
The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC play again in just three days as they take on Sacramento Republic at home to kick of their Independence Day Weekend. Weidner Field will host a huge Fireworks Extravaganza, with the largest fireworks display in Southern Colorado to conclude the team’s match against San Diego Loyal.
