Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, COLO (November 9, 2022) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and USL Championship announced today that Michee Ngalina had been named as the Young Player of the Year for the 2022 season.
“It means a lot to me [to win this],” said Ngalina on the award. “But first, to my teammates I want to thank them for helping me out so I can be deserving of it, and so this success, it’s mine but it’s also the team’s. It just means a lot for me and my career and I feel very proud to earn this.”
In his second season with the Switchbacks, Ngalina made a huge impact on the field this season, notching 14 goals and nine assists in 37 appearances (two of those goals and one of those assists occurred in the post season). He started every single regular season match plus all three playoff matches. Ngalina currently holds the league high in completed dribbles for the 2022 season at 80 and recorded 43 chances created and 11 big chances.
“This is well deserved and just the beginning,” said Head Coach and General Manager Brendan Burke. “This is a player I have massive respect for and high hopes that he will reach the top levels of the game. He’s a great teammate, and a great person, and has been throughout our many years working together.”
