Colorado Springs, CO (September 4, 2026) — The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC battled it out on the road against Loudoun United, ending in a dramatic 5- 4 win.
The Switchbacks struck first in the 17′. #3 Jabari De Coteau carried the ball forward from just beyond the center line before delivering a pinpoint cross into the box. Rising to meet it, #90 Khori Bennett powered a header past the goalkeeper to give Colorado Springs an early lead.
Loudoun responded in the 38′, leveling the match after a scramble inside the box ended with #9 Edward Davis finding the back of the net.
The Switchbacks wasted little time reclaiming the advantage after halftime. In the 50′, #7 Jonas Fjeldberg pounced on a loose ball after Loudoun’s goalkeeper got a hand to the initial attempt. The ball fell perfectly to Fjeldberg, who calmly flicked it into the back of the net to put Colorado Springs back in front.
Loudoun answered just three minutes later, with Davis finding the net from inside the 18-yard box to bring the match level once again. Davis completed his hat trick in the 60′, converting from just above the six-yard box to put Loudoun ahead.
Despite the setback, the Switchbacks continued to battle and push for an equalizer. Their persistence paid off in the 84′. #17 Sadam Masereka weaved through multiple Loudoun defenders before finding #37 Brennan Creek. Creek made no mistake, firing a powerful strike past the goalkeeper to bring Colorado Springs level once again and send the Switchbacks into the final minutes with momentum on their side.
Loudoun regained the lead in the 86′, after #5 Matt Mahoney attempted to clear the ball, only for a slight touch to redirect it into the Switchbacks’ net.
Deep into stoppage time, the Switchbacks earned a penalty kick after a foul inside the box in the 97′. Bennett stepped up to the spot with the pressure on and delivered. Staying composed, he sent his penalty into the bottom-right corner, just out of reach of the goalkeeper, to complete a dramatic brace and secure three points for the Switchbacks.
