Switchbacks Visit Rhythm and Brews Event

On Aug 18th, 2018 the Switchbacks FC and our crazy mascot Ziggy made their way downtown to the Rhythm and Brews block party located from Nevada to Tejon. The event was outstanding with lots of food, drinks, and live entertainment. It had an all-around great atmosphere.  The Switchbacks are proud to be able to come out and give back to the community here in Colorado Springs whenever possible.

Switchbacks Visit Fort Carson For Soldiers With Spouses

On August 16th the Switchbacks and Ziggy went to visit with the soldiers and spouses on Ft. Carson at the military spouse’s event.  The Switchbacks FC is dedicated to supporting our military families and decided to show up in support and hand out free tickets to our next home game ( August 29th , 2018) against Real Monarchs from Salt Lake City! We here at the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC appreciate the support that the military and their families have shown us.  

On August 16th the Switchbacks and Ziggy went to visit with the soldiers and spouses on Ft. Ziggy Visits Weidner Picnic

On Tuesday August 14th, Ziggy and the Switchbacks visited the Weidner Apartment Homes company picnic At John Venezia Community Park.  The Weidner company picnic was a blast which included live entertainment, great food and of course our own Ziggy. Ziggy had a great time playing soccer and taking photos with the kids!

Switchbacks Lose 2-1 On The Road To Tulsa

The Colorado Springs Switchbacks lost 2-1 on the road to the Tulsa Roughnecks on Saturday night.

Coming off of the 2-0 win against Oklahoma City last week at Weidner Field, the Switchbacks were looking to get their 3rd win away from home this season to keep pace with the rest of the Western Conference. The first half started quickly for Tulsa as they nearly scored two goals, but they were denied by the offside flag and the post. But right before the first half ended, Shane Malcolm's cross got deflected to Taylor Hunter and the defender headed in his first goal of the season to put the Switchbacks up 1-0 at the half.

The second half started quickly for Tulsa again, but this time they capitalized on their chances. In the 55th minute, Michael Gamble beat Moise Pouaty at the near post to equalize the scoreline. Joaquin Rivas came off the bench for Tulsa and he scored his opportunity by chipping Pouaty to give the Roughnecks the 2-1 lead in the 71st minute that Tulsa would not surrender in the last 19 minutes.

The Switchbacks are off next weekend before going to Phoenix to face the Rising on August 25th. The Switchbacks are back at Weidner Field on August 29th to face Real Monarchs SLC in a rivalry match. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free Switchbacks Poster and mini soccer balls on 1980's Night courtesy of Penrose-St. Francis Health Services. Tickets start at just $12 and are available here. Fans 21+ can get $1 beer the first 30 minutes when gates open at 6:00 PM.

Switchbacks Players Train Kids At Oakwood Homes Soccer Clinic

For the second time this summer, Switchbacks players and Ziggy visited an Oakwood Homes soccer clinic at Banning Lewis Ranch on August 9th. The kids loved receiving tips from the professionals and the players loved getting to be out in the community.

On Friday, August 3rd, the Switchbacks visited Peterson Air Force Base for the Family Festival and Concert In The Park. The military families enjoyed a foam pit, laser tag, a mechanical bull, a new track for your bike,  live music, and of course Ziggy! Ziggy had a blast meeting all of the kids and giving away tickets to the Switchbacks home game against the Oklahoma City Energy on August 4th.
