Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC Sign Aidan Daniels

Colorado Springs, CO (December 23, 2019) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that the club has signed Aidan Daniels, pending USL Championship and USSF approval.

"Playing for the Switchbacks this coming season fills me with excitement and joy. This is a new opportunity and a blessing," Aidan Daniels said. "I'm really looking forward to playing and contributing to the team, and most importantly to help win games. I'm thrilled to be a part of the Switchbacks family and can't wait to meet everyone. I am excited to get to work, compete and most of all play football for the Switchbacks."

Daniels, 21, signed a homegrown contract with Toronto FC (MLS) on April 13, 2018 before making his debut against the Houston Dynamo on April 21, 2018. The attacking midfielder has primarily spent time with Toronto FC II (2016-2018), playing in 65 games (3,652 minutes) and scoring three goals. Daniels most recently played for Ottawa Fury FC (2019) on loan where he appeared in 14 games and scored one goal.

"Having been in an MLS environment for several years with Toronto and having had the opportunity to go on loan to a USL Championship team, Aidan has developed significantly as a young player," said Switchbacks Head Coach, Alan Koch. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC Update Coaching Staff

Colorado Springs, CO (December 23, 2019) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that the club has updated it's technical staff with the additions of Kyle Timm and Chase Robertson, and the return of Trey Harrington.

Colorado Springs, CO (December 23, 2019) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that the club has updated it’s technical staff with the additions of Kyle Timm and Chase Robertson, and the return of Trey Harrington.

Kyle Timm is the first new Assistant Coach for Alan Koch's technical staff. Timm was previously an Assistant Coach at Coastal Carolina University since 2017. Since his arrival at Coastal, several of his recruits have received all-conference honors. Prior to his time at Coastal, Timm spent five seasons at Tyler Junior College where they organized three National Championship teams and two National Runner-Up teams in just 5 seasons. In 2014, he became a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Soccer Hall of Fame and in 2016 he was named the NSCAA National Assistant of the Year.

"It is more than a privilege to be a part of the Switchbacks staff and to work alongside Alan in the upcoming season," said Timm. "I look forward to getting started and attaining the goals that have been set out for the club!"

The South African native also played for Tyler Junior College from 2006 to 2008 where he received the honors of First Team-All American (2007), All-Conference (2006 & 2007), and First-Team All-Region (2007). The former midfielder went on to play Clayton State University where he was named First Team All-Conference, the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year (2009), and he was named to the All-Peach Belt team (2008).

I have seen from afar the excellent work he has done with the players in the junior college and the NCAA D1 ranks," said Switchbacks Head Coach, Alan Koch. "He not only is an excellent coach, but also develops amazing relationships with the players that he works with. "When speaking with Coach on the phone, I immediately felt the passion and desire he has for football and for this club, and I am certain that with Alan at the helm, the Switchbacks will find success. The former defender earned three letters at MSU Texas (2011-2014) as well as honorable mention All-American honors as a player in 2013.

Trey Harrington will be returning as the Switchbacks' Goalkeeper Coach in 2020. This will be Harrington's sixth season as he started in the club's inaugural season in 2015.

"I am excited to be back with the club for another season," said Harrington. "I am looking forward to the new look that Coach Alan is bringing to the club."

Coach Harrington is a member of the Evansville Purple Aces Hall of Fame. Harrington played for the Purple Aces from 1989-1992 where he earned NSCAA 2nd Team All-American honors in 1990. He was then named as an alternate for the 1992 US Olympic team. in 1990, he set the record for goals allowed (7), goals against average (0.26), minutes (2,389) and solo shutouts (14). He also holds the school record for most all-time saves (248) and tied for most solo shutouts (34). Harrington went on to play professionally for the Colorado Foxes for 6 years before moving on to coaching in 1997. He was most recently the Director of Goalkeeping of the Colorado Storm before joining the Switchbacks in 2015.

"I am also very excited to bring Trey Harrington back as our keeper coach," said Switchbacks Head Coach, Alan Koch. "Trey has done an excellent job with the Switchbacks keepers over the last few years and I am excited to work with him. We will entrust him with the development of our keepers."

Trey Harrington will be returning as the Switchbacks’ Goalkeeper Coach in 2020. This will be Harrington’s sixth season as he started in the club’s inaugural season in 2015.

Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC Sign Hiroki Kurimoto

Colorado Springs, CO (December 20, 2019) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that the club has signed Hiroki Kurimoto, pending USL Championship and USSF approval.

"I'm very excited to be a part of the Switchbacks in 2020," Hiroki Kurimoto said. "I'll give my all to the club and the supporters. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone."

Kurimoto, 29, was a two-time league MVP (2016 & 2017) while at Honda FC in the fourth-division of the Japan Football League (JFL). The midfielder was a centerpiece in Honda FC's lineup where he made 172 appearances over six seasons, accumulating 34 goals and 45 assists. In his time at Honda FC, Kurimoto helped the club to a JFL Championship in four of his six seasons (2014, 2016, 2017, & 2018) as well as being selected to the league's Best Eleven squad in each of his last four seasons at the club.

Kurimoto most recently played for Fresno FC in 2019 after he stood out at their open tryouts in preseason and earned a spot on the team. But he didn't just fill a roster spot, Kurimoto became a centerpiece in the midfield again as he appeared in 29 games for the Foxes.

"Hiroki is joining us after a very good season with Fresno," said Switchbacks Head Coach, Alan Koch. "He is a player that quite simply makes everyone around him better. An absolute gem of a person he will embody the character of our team, and will also help us in and out of possession. "It's a great honor and blessing to be given this opportunity to join the Switchbacks family," George Lebese said. "I can't extend my sincere gratitude and above all, I just want to thank God for everything."

Lebese, 30, has spent his entire career in the South African top division, the ABSA Premiership. The winger scored a total of 24 goals in 157 appearances between two of the top teams in South Africa in the Kaizer Chiefs (2008-2017) and the Mamelodi Sundowns FC (2017-2019). Lebese has earned five call ups to the South African National Team from 2011 to 2015.

Ferreira, 24, most recently played for FK Jerv in the 1. divisjon, the second-highest level of the Norwegian football league system where he totaled five goals and three assists since 2018. Born in New Jersey, raised in Deerfield Beach, Florida, Ferreira has citizenship for the United States, Portugal (mother), and Brazil (father) through his parent's home countries.

"Mamadi had a fantastic college career and was deservedly drafted high last year in MLS. Unfortunately, things did not work out for him to be signed by the [San Jose] Earthquakes, but this has provided us with the opportunity to bring in a supreme athlete with excellent technical ability that is hungry to impress," said Switchbacks Head Coach, Alan Koch. "I look forward to seeing how Mamadi adjusts to the professional game and am excited about welcoming him to Colorado Springs."

Camara, 24, last played for Simon Fraser University before being drafted in the second round, 46th overall, by the San Jose Earthquakes in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft. After captaining SFU his senior year, Camara finished his college career with 29 goals and 20 assists in 69 games. The attacking midfielder was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team and GNAC Player of the Year in 2018, after totaling nine goals and 13 assists his senior year.

Colorado Springs, CO (December 16, 2019) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that the club has re-signed Rony Argueta, pending USL Championship and USSF approval.

"It is a pleasure to welcome Rony back for another season with the team. He has been a mainstay of the club for many years and is going to be a rock in our midfield again this season," said Switchbacks Head Coach, Alan Koch. "Rony is the consummate professional and is always willing to learn. He is a pleasure to manage and I look forward to getting the most out of him this coming season."

Argueta notched a goal and three assists in 31 appearances last season for the Switchbacks. The central midfielder is entering his fifth season with the club after serving as team captain during the 2017 campaign.

Blue and black will feature as the primary colors for the club while grey and white will serve as the accent colors.

The core of the logo emphasizes the "S" shape flowing right to left to right to left portraying the movement of the switchback roads that mark the climb to Pikes Peak. The outline of the shield is broken to reveal the letter "S" standing for "Springs" and "Switchbacks".

The peak of the logo is a symbolic representation of Pikes Peak and the scenic, mountain backdrop from the Colorado Springs view.

The five stripes represent the five military bases in Colorado Springs that make up our community.

The Downtown Stadium will be a multi-use facility that can accommodate a variety of sporting and entertainment events. Located at the CityGate property, the Downtown Stadium site is bordered by Cimarron St. to the North, Moreno Ave. to the South, Sierra Madre St. to the West and Sahwatch St. to the East. The strategic downtown location allows for high visibility, access to amenities, and special experiences for participants and spectators.

Ed Ragain and Dean Weidner are partnering with GE Johnson and Perkins & Will to build the stadium in Downtown Colorado Springs. The facility will serve as the permanent home for the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC with an anticipated 8,000 seats. It will encompass a synthetic turf field with organic infill for competition and an approximately 145,500-square-foot stadium overall. The Switchbacks FC are a part of a $2.3 billion downtown redevelopment including the new US Olympic and Paralympic Museum.

The Downtown Stadium will play host, along with the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the NCAA, to the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Soccer Championship in 2021. The championships, which are typically held a weekend apart in early December, is the first prestige soccer event added to the new venue's schedule.

"Having a downtown stadium is a win for the club and the community. The Switchbacks are an ambitious organization with a bright future and this stadium will help boost the club from both an economic and competitive standpoint," said Chief Operating Officer of the USL, Justin Papadakis.
