COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 2, 2026) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that it has signed midfielder Jonas Fjeldberg to a new contract covering the 2027 USL Championship season, with a club option for 2028. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Fjeldberg joined the Switchbacks in 2023 and has established himself as a key contributor over the past four seasons. He has made 100 appearances for the club, recording 15 goals and 11 assists across 4,207 minutes of action.
The 2026 campaign has been the most productive season of Fjeldberg’s Switchbacks career, with five goals and eight assists to date. In 2024, Fjeldberg played a pivotal role in the club’s historic Championship campaign, helping lead the Switchbacks to the USL Championship Final and the first trophy in club history.
“Jonas [Fjeldberg] is having a career-best season, and he is one who will absolutely put the team first every single day,” said Alan McCann. “He is a great character in our locker room and one that everybody in the building has the highest respect for. We’re really excited that he has committed his future to the club.”
A native of Norway, Fjeldberg played at the University of Dayton, where he made an immediate impact over four seasons with the Flyers. He finished his collegiate career with 22 goals and 21 assists, earning recognition as a consistent attacking threat.
Fjeldberg began his professional career in 2021 after being selected by FC Cincinnati in the MLS SuperDraft. Later that year, he joined Rio Grande Valley FC Toros on loan, gaining valuable professional experience. Prior to joining the Switchbacks, Fjeldberg spent time with Indy Eleven, where he recorded eight goals across 28 appearances.
