Press Release By: Lori Black & James P. Stuart – GE Johnson Construction
Colorado Springs, CO., February 11, 2016 – GE Johnson Construction Company is proud to have entered into a partnership with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks Football Club for the 2016 United Soccer League Season. This sponsorship – which will build on the relationship built during the team’s 2015 campaign – is geared toward driving community enjoyment and encouraging active lifestyles, while building engagement and pride in Colorado Springs.
The partnership comes in large part due to the shared culture and values of both organizations. GE Johnson and the Switchbacks have shown a dedication to the community – most visibly through philanthropic work and participation in civic events of all kinds. This arrangement will allow each to further their involvement in Colorado Springs through mutual relationships and generate excitement for the 2016 season, which kicks off March 26 in Oklahoma City. The home opener will be April 9 against Arizona United at Switchbacks Stadium (6303 Barnes Road).
Jim Johnson, President and CEO of GE Johnson, said the partnership is a great opportunity to show the company’s support of the hometown team while helping in their mission to build community. “The Switchbacks are a great representation of Colorado Springs,” said Johnson, “they are bringing value to our community by giving people a chance to take in professional soccer in their own backyard.”
Johnson went on to say there is growing excitement among the company’s employees, “GE Johnson has been here in the Springs for almost 50 years – it’s our home. We want people to get out to the stadium and be a part of something special, and we’re excited to be right there with them.”
The Switchbacks were founded in 2014 by Ragain Sports, LLC. In 2015, the team finished third in the USL Western Conference, clinching a playoff berth in its first year of existence.
Ed Ragain, Owner of the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, said, “Our goal is not only to build a winning team, but also to build the Colorado Springs brand in the largest Western US markets. GE Johnson is the ideal partner as they find value in making Colorado Springs a winning brand.”
GE Johnson has been headquartered in Colorado Springs since 1967, and has completed more than $8 billion worth of work across 14 states. The company provides a comprehensive range of Construction Management and General Contracting services, including industry-leading preconstruction services and an in-house Building Information Modeling team.
