The Colorado Springs Switchbacks visit Penrose Hospital Thursday afternoon alongside actors dressed in galactic gear as the Switchbacks prepared to take on Energy FC for Galactic Night and Cancer Awareness Night on Saturday, June 3rd.
Jake Cawsey and Conner Bevans were joined by Luke and Leia as they made rounds at Penrose Hospital. The Switchbacks met with several doctors, nurses, and other hospital workers along with a few patients. They visited a Parkinson's Rehab class along with a few cancer patients preparing for their radiation treatments.
The visit provided an opportunity for Jake and Conner to give back to the community with one of the founding partners of the Switchbacks who have been there since day one.
"It was a great opportunity to get involved with the local community," said Conner Bevans of the visit. "To be able to give back and put smiles on people's face like we did was a great experience. I'm looking forward to the next time we do something like this!"
It was an amazing experience and a great chance to give back to the community," said Jacob Cawsey of the visit. "I really appreciated the chance to thank those who work so hard to take care of this community, and try to put some smiles on the faces of people who might have needed it."
The Switchbacks will be wearing pink jerseys on Saturday as part of the Cancer Awareness Night. The game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off on the DASH app with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit cancer patients at the Penrose-St. Francis Health Foundation. Learn more here.
Saturday's match will also be Galactic Night. Switchbacks fans are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite galactic characters and arrive early as the first 500 fans in attendance will also receive sabers courtesy of Penrose-St. Francis Pediatric ER. Tickets start at just $12 and are available here.
