The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC officially announced they have signed Niki Jackson on loan from the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer.
Jackson joins the Switchbacks after appearing in three matches for the Colorado Rapids. He scored one minute into his MLS debut after coming as a sub in the Rapid's season opener. Jackson was selected by the Rapids in the fourth round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft our of Grand Canyon University. The 6' 1" striker had a record-breaking season ranking third in the nation with 16 goals as a junior. During his junior year he was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the NSCAA First Team All-West Region honors.
"We've been looking to add some guys to the roster," said Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "This opportunity came about to help add some depth to the attacking position with a quality player."
Jackson will be available for tonight's match against Seattle Sounders FC 2. Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreement, the Rapids retain the right to recall Jackson at any point during the remainder of the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
The Switchbacks will return home to face Seattle Sounders FC 2 for 90's Night with the second piece of the poster series puzzle courtesy of The Gazette. Tickets start at just $12 and are available here. Fans 21 and older can get $1 beer the first 30 minutes when gates open at 5:00 PM.
