The Colorado Springs Switchbacks took the lead but ultimately lost 3-1 to the LA Galaxy II on Saturday night at StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium.
Coming off of the dramatic 1-0 win against the Real Monarchs on Wednesday night, the Switchbacks traveled to the West Coast to face the Los Angeles Galaxy II. The Switchbacks came out of the gate strong when Jordan Schweitzer found Mason Toye in the 11th minute when Toye beat his defender and then megged the Galaxy keeper, Eric Lopez to give the Switchbacks the early 1-0 lead as well as Toye's first ever professional goal. The Galaxy II would equalize in the 27th minute when Tomas Hillard-Arce rose up to head a free kick home. Just two minutes later, the Galaxy II took the lead when Moise Pouaty saved the initial shot, but Ariel Lassiter scored on the rebound to take the 2-1 lead into the half.
Lassiter continued to be a thorn in the Switchbacks side in the second half when he doubled the lead for the hosts early in the second half. The Switchbacks pushed to get back in the game, but they couldn't find the goal to open up the game as the team dropped a 3-1 result on the road Saturday night.
The Switchbacks return to Weidner Field on Saturday, September 15th to face Rio Grande Valley FC. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a Switchbacks trucker hat on Super Hero Night, powered by Kaiser Permanente. Tickets start at just $12 and are available here. Fans 21+ can get $1 beer the first 30 minutes when gates open at 5:00 PM.
