The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC scored two goals within a minute to draw 2-2 against the Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Wednesday night to close out the 2018 season.
Coming off of the road loss against Fresno FC last Friday, the Switchbacks traveled to Seattle to take on the Seattle Sounders FC 2 to conclude the 2018 season. The home side threatened early when Shandon Hopeau hit a shot from distance but Steward Ceus made the save at his near post. Just before the stroke of halftime, Azriel Gonzalez crossed a free kick that Lamar Neagle got his head on to give the hosts the 1-0 lead going into the break.
The Switchbacks leveled the game just six minutes after halftime when Jordan Schweitzer found Saeed Robinson, who curled his effort off the crossbar and over the line. Less than a minute later, the Switchbacks were on the counter-attack when Karsten Hanlin played an inch-perfect cross into the feet of Shane Malcolm as Malcolm finished it off to quickly turn the game around and stun the home crowd. With ten minutes left to play, the Sounders found an equalizer after a long throw-in landed at the feet of second-half substitute, Alec Diaz, who made no mistake of his finish from close range. The visitors nearly had another quick strike when Jordan Burt's effort beat the goalkeeper, but it didn't beat the crossbar to end the Switchbacks season with a draw in Washington.
