The Switchbacks booked their spot in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup by defeating FC Denver 1-0 on May 15th. New Mexico United went to Phoenix in the second round and defeated the Rising FC in penalty kicks to set up the matchup with the Switchbacks at Weidner Field on May 29th.
