On Saturday, April 23rd, members of the Switchbacks staff, along with their beloved mascot Ziggy, attended the 2022 Polar Plunge at the U.S Olympic and Paralympic Museum, benefitting Special Olympics Colorado.
Hundreds of people showed out on the sunny but windy Saturday morning to celebrate the annual fundraiser that helps to raise money for the non-profit Special Olympics Colorado. The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Colorado is a CO specific branch of the non-profit, dedicated to athletic equality across the entire state.
The event began with, of course, the plunge itself, as the individuals and groups who registered to participate took turns taking a dunk into a pool of icy water that had been set up on the sidewalk next to the Olympic Museum. Local groups and businesses in the area were set up with booths with fun games and prizes as well, and the event concluded with a post-event bash over at Jack Quinn’s Restaurant and Bar.
The very last plunger of the day? None other than Switchbacks FC mascot Ziggy himself!! Dare we say, is he the G.O.A.T?
