On Friday June 2nd, members of the Switchbacks FC Unified Team, as well as their coaches, spent the afternoon at Air Force Academy holding a youth clinic for children ages 4-17. The clinic was a project set forth to help educate athletes of all ages about our Unified Program, while raising funds to cover the costs of kits and travel for our athletes.
Over 75 soccer students registered and attended the clinic, which was led by several members of our Unified Team under the guidance of their coaches. The clinic consisted of running the athletes through various drills and technical events as well as some smaller breakout groups for specialized positions (like goalkeeping).
Unfortunately, due to lightning in the area, the clinic was unable to hold full game scrimmages, but otherwise the event was a great success for all involved.
The Unified Team has their first match of 2022 this Saturday, June 18th, as they take on Colorado Rapids Unified Team here at Weidner Field. The match is set to start immediately following the Switchbacks FC match against Indy Eleven.
