COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 6th) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that the team has acquired defender Delentz Pierre on loan from Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season.

The 22-year-old center back joins the Switchbacks having made 14 appearances for Real Monarchs SLC this season in MLS NEXT Pro, recording one goal in 1,211 minutes of action. Delentz has also made a pair of appearances for RSL in this season’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, helping the side claim victories against the USL Championship’s Las Vegas Lights FC and MLS’s Portland Timbers FC.
“[Delentz] is a strong aggressive defender who is developing nicely in the Real Salt Lake system,” said Switchbacks Head Coach Stephen Hogan. “Pierre is naturally left-footed with a very good passing range, who will push our defenders every day in training and games for a starting spot. He is a great lad who will enjoy the locker room too.”
Pierre signed as a Homegrown Player with RSL this past January after competing collegiately at the University of Portland, where he made 48 appearances and recorded four goals and two assists across three seasons with the Pilots. Prior to his college career, Delentz competed for the Monarchs as a USL Academy signing in the 2019 USL Championship season, making four appearances for the side before departing for college in the fall.
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Pierre has previously competed at the youth national team level for Haiti. In 2018, while part of the Real Salt Lake Academy, he competed for the country at the Concacaf U-20 Championship, making a pair of starts as the side narrowly missed out on progressing to the final stage of the tournament.
