Colorado Springs, CO (August 1, 2026) — The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC three match regular season winning streak comes to an end after falling 1-0 to New Mexico United.
The Switchbacks once again showcased their aggressive attack throughout the first half, led by #7 Jonas Fjeldberg and #10 Adrien Perez who combined for eight of the squad’s 11 shots before the break.
New Mexico broke the scoreless tie in the 51’. #11 Cristian Nava found #27 Maliek Howell who snuck one past Switchbacks goalkeeper Colin Shutler to give New Mexico a 1-0 lead early into the second half.
Colorado Springs continued to apply pressure and created multiple opportunities to score in the second half, recording 30 touches in the opposition box and taking 10 shots, but were unable to find the equalizer in the second half.
Fjeldberg finished the match with six shots, while #17 Sadam Masereka added four. Fjeldberg and #24 Talen Maples each won seven out of eight duels.
