COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 2nd, 2025) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that FC Dallas has terminated Herbert Endeley’s loan due to a lower-body injury. 

Endeley has appeared in seven matches for the Switchbacks during the 2025 season, totaling 491 minutes on the field. He has contributed one goal, one assist, and maintains a passing accuracy of 75%.

“The club is devastated for him. He was doing fantastic for us on and off the field,”

said Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. “He’ll come back even stronger, and we are excited to see him play next season. We want to wish him all the best in his recovery.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 30th, 2025) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today it had signed defender Tyler Clegg for the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to join this club and be part of the group,” said Clegg.  “I’m looking forward to playing in front of the home fans and doing whatever I can to help bring success to this team!” 

Clegg played at James Madison University from 2018-2022. Over the course of five seasons, he played a total of 5,270 minutes with 78 appearances. 

In his sophomore season, he recorded a total of 902 minutes. Clegg’s most recognizable season was in 2021, where he was recognized as VaSID All-State Defensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Week twice, and earned a spot in All-CAA First Team. During his senior year, he was recognized in the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team, where he made 19 appearances, recorded five goals, and one assist. 

After completing his college career, Clegg made the leap to professional soccer. Clegg was signed to MLS Next Pro team Portland Timbers from 2023, where he made 46 appearances, played a total of 1,307 minutes. Clegg made two appearances for the first team at the 2023 Coachella Valley Invitational preseason tournament.

His most recent team was Sacramento Republic FC, where Clegg made one appearance for the Republic against the Switchbacks on March 22. 

“Clegg is a solid center back who suits our style of play,” said Stephen Hogan. “His composure and defensive positioning are why we are excited to have him in the building and compete for that spot.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 21, 2025) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today Columbus Crew had recalled Goalkeeper Abraham Romero.

Romero has played five games for the Switchbacks in the 2025 season, racking up a total of 449 minutes and earning 15 saves. 

“Abe is a great example of what we wanted in the building. He greatly helped the goalkeeper core of the club,” said Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. “We knew the loan was going to be short, but we saw real quality in everything he did.”

The Switchbacks have a three-game road trip with Orange County on Saturday, May 24th, and El Paso Locomotive on May 31st, and New Mexico United, June 7th. The boys then return to Weidner Field on June 14th, as they go head to head against the Oakland Roots for Father’s Day!  For tickets to that match and all others, head HERE. 

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 10th, 2025) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today it had signed Alessandro “Nino” Maldonado and Chase Gozdieski to a USL Academy contract for the 2025 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval. 

“Huge honor to have signed an academy contract with the reigning champions of the USL Championship. I’m, extremely excited to work under these group of guys and staff and represent Colorado Springs during the 2025 season,” said Alessandro Maldonado. “Can’t wait to get started out in Weidner Field in front of the best fans in the league.” 

Maldonado, 19, played in the academy of USL Championship side Loudoun United and with MLS DC United U15, U16 and U17. He also earned some international experience with Croatia’s NK Istra 1961 U19 team as well as Honduras’s U17 team.

Gozdieski developed his game with the academy of USL Championship Orange County SC and with MLS NEXT club City SC. Then in 2024 he moved to Colorado and signed another Academy contract with previous USL League One team, Northern Colorado Hailstorm.

Their consistent performances in training and games for Switchbacks II have shown us that they can compete and execute the qualities we seek in a player,” said Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. ” A dynamic winger, Nino has a talent for unbalancing defenders and making intelligent decisions in the final third. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 27th, 2025) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that the team has acquired forward Herbert Endeley on loan from FC Dallas of Major Soccer League (MLS) for the 2025 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval. 

“I’m humbled and honored to be joining such a great club,” said Herbert Endeley. “I’m looking forward to forming some partnerships with my new teammates and doing everything I can to ensure as much success for myself and the club on the field.”

FC Dallas signed Endeley in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft (1st round, 24th overall). While he played for FC Dallas, he made 12 appearances, was a starter for three of those matches, and held a passing accuracy of 82.6%. 

In addition to seeing action with Dallas’ First Team, Endeley has also recorded seven goals and eight assists across 36 appearances for North Texas SC in MLS NEXT Pro over the past two seasons. He played a key role as NTSC won the MLS NEXT Pro Cup in 2024, earning MVP honors in the Final while recording one goal and two assists in four playoff games.

This forward attended Indiana University, where he made a significant impact over four seasons, totaling 84 appearances and 67 starts. Endeley scored 13 goals and recorded 20 assists. His efforts helped guide the Indiana Hoosiers to the 2022 College Cup Final, where he played a pivotal role in the team’s deep run. During the tournament, Endeley contributed one goal and two assists. His consistent excellence earned him All-Big Ten honors every season he played, including second-team All-Big Ten recognition in his senior year.

“Herbert is a player we are very excited to have in the building. We have been scouting Herbert for a few years now, and he can now show our league what he is all about. An aggressively athletic right back who fits our profile,” said Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. “His technical ability and decision-making will also cause opposing teams problems going forward. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 13th, 2025) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today it had signed goalkeeper Jonathan Burke for the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to be playing with the Switchbacks this season. From the moment I arrived and met everyone I got the feeling that this was truly a special place. Everybody I have interacted with has been very welcoming and genuine. This group of guys has something unique in how they carry themselves on and off the field,” said Jonathan Burke.  “I knew right away that if God put the opportunity in front of me that I would trust Him fully and do what I can to help this team grow. I look forward to seeing the positive impacts we have on people’s lives in the community as well as bringing home another trophy to Colorado Springs.” 

Burke began his collegiate soccer career at Eastern Illinois University, playing from 2016 to 2021. Over the course of his five seasons, he made a total of 56 appearances and recorded 254 saves. Throughout his college career, Burke was recognized for his impressive skills, earning the title of Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2018. In addition, his strong performances earned him his first All-Conference second-team award in 2019.

In his graduate year, Burke transferred to Drake University to further his development on the field. During the 2022 season, he played in 15 games, earning  62 saves and five clean sheets. His stellar performances throughout the season helped him earn the 2022 MVC Goalkeeper of the Year award.

After completing his college career, Burke made the leap to professional soccer. Burke was signed to MLS Next Pro team Chattanooga FC, for the 2023 and 2024 season where he made 13 appearances.

“Burke is a fantastic pick-up who has shown his shot-stopping and distribution abilities. Since I arrived, this is the first time we feel we may have a complete goalkeeping group,” said Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. ” Calle Brown (Goalkeeper Coach), is excited for the organization to have three keepers and get to really showcase all of them. Burke is another quality keeper who can hopefully push for game time.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 12th, 2025) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today it had signed Henry Weston to a USL Academy contract for the 2025 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval. 

“I want to thank to my parents, my agent Marco and all the coaches who have pushed and supported me through my soccer career,” said Henry Weston.  “I am excited for the opportunity to play for the club, and am thankful for the Switchbacks staff for believing in me.” 

As a USL Academy signing, Weston can train and compete for the Switchbacks in the USL Championship and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup without forgoing his NCAA eligibility.

Weston started his soccer journey with a local club, STA, in New Jersey, where he played for six years. He then relocated to New York to join the New York Red Bulls Academy, where he spent two seasons.

As a right-back, Weston had the opportunity to trial for two prominent English clubs, for their respective academy teams: Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in the Premier League and Coventry City in the Championship League. Following that, he spent five months with FC Cincinnati’s academy before moving to the academy team of Deportivo Numancia de Soria (S.A.D).

“We are very excited to see what Henry does with Switchbacks || and the first team this season,” said Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. ” He has done very well in first team training to this point, and he thoroughly deserves the academy contract.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 28th, 2025) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced the addition of Charlie Adams from Las Vegas Lights via transfer ahead of the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

“I am thrilled to be apart of this successful and ambitious club,” said Charlie Adams. “Meeting my team mates and staff has invigorated me to be at my very best for this club and community. I can’t wait for the season to start.” 

This midfielder joins the Switchbacks after recently playing for Las Vegas Lights, where he accumulated 1,258 minutes on the field. During his time with the Lights, he scored one goal, had nine clearances, created 18 chances, and maintained a passing accuracy of 96.1%.

Adams developed in the youth academy of current Premier League club Brentford FC. Along with playing for the Bees, he had loan spells at Barnet and Stevenage in England’s lower leagues before making his move across the Atlantic to join Louisville City FC for its inaugural season in the USL Championship.

Adams briefly returned to England in 2016 to play for Stevenage before signing with Real Monarchs SLC. There, he became a key part of the midfield that helped the team win the 2017 USL Championship Players’ Shield. After three seasons with the Monarchs, he joined Orange County SC in 2019 and later moved to San Diego Loyal SC for the club’s inaugural season in 2020.

“We’ve got a really experienced midfielder in the building, and we believe he will help us with his quality on the ball, his soccer IQ, and his determination to win,” said Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. “I’m also excited to see him in the locker room with our guys, and hopefully, we can continue to build our culture with Charlie here!”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 20th, 2025) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today that the team has acquired Goalkeeper Abraham Romero on loan from MLS team, Columbus Crew for the 2025 USL Championship season.

“Very excited to be joining the defending USL Champions this year, I’m sure this is gonna be another great year for the Switchbacks, can’t wait to see how much better this already great group of footballers can become,” said Abraham Romero. “Hope to see the fans show out at Weidner Field every home match and really make this our fortress.” 

Romero joined Columbus Crew in August of 2024. With him being a new addition to the team, he made two appearances, earned two clean sheets and held a passing accuracy of 85.7%. 

Romero’s soccer journey began in Pasadena, California, where he joined LA Galaxy’s youth academy in 2012 at the age of 13. Over the next four years, he developed his skills with the club’s academy. His hard work earned him a move to Liga MX’s C.F. Pachuca in 2016, where he initially joined the club’s U-20 team. During his time with Pachuca’s youth squad, Romero made 60 appearances and had 12 clean sheets. His performances earned him a call-up to Pachuca’s first team, where he featured during the Copa MX 2017-18 and the 2018-19 Apertura and Clausura campaigns. Romero also earned a place in Los Tuzos’ squad for their participation in the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

After his time with Pachuca, Romero returned to the U.S. to further his career. He played for LA Galaxy II from 2019 to 2020, where he gained valuable experience in the USL Championship. Romero then played for Orange County SC in 2021 and Las Vegas Lights FC in 2022, totaling 49 appearances over four seasons. With his time in Orange County SC, he helped bring the team to victory winning the USL Championship Cup. 

On the international stage, Romero has represented Mexico at various youth levels, earning 14 total appearances from the U-17 to the U-22 national teams. Notably, he featured in seven matches during the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile and five matches during the 2017 U-20 World Cup in South Korea. In addition to his time with Mexico’s youth teams, Romero has also represented the U.S. Men’s Youth National Team, making appearances for both the U-15 and U-17 teams.

“We are delighted to welcome Abraham to the organization,” said Sporting Director Stephen Hogan. “We believe there are two number ones in the building now, and I think that competition will push both of our goalkeepers to higher levels.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 7th, 2025) – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced that the club has extended the contracts of Sporting Director Stephen Hogan, Head Coach James Chambers, and Assistant Coach Alan McCann.

“Extending and enhancing technical staff contracts was a Club priority after winning a Championship and planning an ownership transition,” said Laura Neumann.  “We are excited to have our leadership back and ready to chase down another trophy for Colorado Springs.”

Throughout the years of developing the club, Hogan, Chambers, and McCann have forged a strong partnership, working together to build a successful team. Their efforts have led the team to a 61-43-30 record, securing a spot in the championship playoffs for four straight seasons.

The 2024 season saw the club achieve several major milestones, including their highest regular-season finish in history (2nd place), winning the Western Conference Cup, setting a league record with half a million viewers on CBS, and claiming the USL Championship Cup—all in James Chambers’ first season as Head Coach.

“Delighted to have extended my time with the organization. I’m very fortunate to have a fantastic staff and a terrific group of players to continue working with on a daily basis. We have some strong foundations in place around the club but we are eager to keep striving for excellence,” said Head Coach James Chambers. ” On the field our intent is clear, we are focused on taking the necessary steps daily so that we are at a level that keeps us competing for silverware. Off the field, we want to continue to impact the community and entertain our wonderful fan base while growing the game in the Springs. We are aware of how difficult a task this is but our entire group is relishing the challenge that lies ahead.”

Chambers joined the Switchbacks after a storied career as a player and one season coaching with the Philadelphia Union Academy. Chambers’ playing career lasted 16 years with stints at clubs across Ireland, England, Scotland, and the United States. The Dublin, Ireland native played with Bethlehem Steel FC for four seasons, becoming a mainstay in the starting lineup making 126 appearances and scoring 18 goals in the USL Championship.

“I am thrilled to come back this season,” said Stephen Hogan. “We have accomplished a lot in the 2024 season, and I look forward to seeing what else we can do.”

Before joining the Switchbacks staff, Hogan served five years as an assistant coach for the Bethlehem Steel FC, the former USLC affiliate of Philadelphia Union, including two playoff years in 2017-2018. During his time with the Steel, Hogan helmed Reading United, the USL League Two affiliate of Philadelphia Union. He led the squad to an overall record of 22-5-1 in his two seasons with the club, as well as an appearance in the Eastern Conference Final. 

“We’re all hungry to come back and put in even more work this upcoming season as a staff and as a group of players,” said Alan McCann. “Taking lessons from last year and using them to improve on the daily details is the plan of action going into pre-season.” 

McCann previously served as Head Coach of the Philadelphia Union’s USL League Two affiliate, Reading United, in 2018 and 2019. During his tenure, he guided the team to an impressive 28-3-5 record, securing consecutive division and conference titles, and leading them to the USL League Two championship game both years. McCann’s success earned him the distinction of USL League Two Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2019. Additionally, from 2018 to 2022, he held the role of Scouting Director for the USL League Two Scouting Network.

The 2025 technical staff will also include Matt Besmer as the Director of Performance, Calle Brown as the Goalkeeper Coach, Lindsey Bergen as the Director of Team Operations, Keelan Power as the Individual Development Coach, and Dylan Handlovitch as the Head Equipment Manager.
