The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC Unified Team is getting ready to kick off their second season this month with a match against their northern rivals, the Colorado Rapids Unified squad. The 2022 roster, for the first and only unified team in the USL Championship, was introduced back in April with the team’s media day being held on April 27 th at Weidner Field. Media day featured an abundance of festivities beginning with player coach Yariv Ben-Naim giving a speech and introducing the roster. The unified players signed their contracts, took their player photos, and donned their 2022 on-field kits for the first time! With their contracts signed, and kits ready to go it was time to take the field for the finale of the day as all the players and coaches were announced in the stadium.
Now that the 2022 team has been introduced the team is eager to get their season rolling on the 18th with their first of two matches this season against the Rapids Unified Team. In a day that features three matches at Weidner Field beginning with a USL Academy match in the morning, Switchbacks vs Indy Eleven in the evening, and the unified showdown as the nightcap. The two teams will meet again with the season culminating in Commerce City at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on August 13th .
