Switchbacks FC Attend St. Francis Medical Center Expansion

On February 11th, Penrose-St. Francis Health Services celebrated the Grand Opening of the St. Francis Medical Center Expansion Project! The Switchbacks and Ziggy were there in support to watch the ribbon cutting ceremony as well as tour the latest addition to the medical center. A brand new Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, four new world-class operating rooms, and a state-of-the-art Emergency Department will now be in service to care for Colorado Springs' ever-growing and thriving community!

Switchbacks FC Unveil New Away Jerseys For 2019 Season

The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC today unveiled their new away jersey for the 2019 season in the USL Championship.

The Centura Orthopedics logo on the front of the jerseys will also sport a new look in 2019 on both the home and away jerseys.

This is the second year of a five-year agreement between Capelli Sport and the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC where Capelli Sport supplies the team with their innovative apparel and training gear. After the affiliation with the Colorado Rapids was made official this offseason, it was announced that the Switchbacks would be receiving four players on loan from the Rapids for the entirety of the 2019 season.

But there will also be some familiar faces on the Switchbacks in 2019. Rony Argueta and Mike Seth were both a part of the Switchbacks playoff teams in 2015 and 2016, and they have returned to the Switchbacks this year. Jordan Burt has been with the Switchbacks since the teams inaugural season in 2015 and he's gearing up for his fifth season with the club. And Jordan Schweitzer is returning for his second season in Colorado Springs after becoming a fan favorite last year.

For preseason, the Switchbacks are playing an array of different teams across Colorado and Utah throughout February into the beginning of March. The club will also be participating in the Wasatch Winter Cup February 18th and 21st at Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman, Utah for the first-ever all-USL Championship preseason tournament.

Switchbacks FC Invite Five Players From Open Tryouts To Preseason

On January 26th and 27th, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC hosted open tryouts with the guarantee of one player being invited to preseason. Now in the second week of preseason, there are a total of five players that were invited to join the Switchbacks in preseason from open tryouts. The dream took one step closer to becoming a reality for these five players as they earned the opportunity to take the field with the Switchbacks in the preseason game on February 9th, a 5-1 win for the Switchbacks.

Switchbacks FC Win 5-1 In First Preseason Game

On February 9th, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC won their first preseason game of 2019 comfortably 5-1 over the Pride Soccer Club ECNL u19's.

The first half was primarily Switchbacks players under contract as they're gearing up for the 2019 USL Championship season. Rony Argueta set up Mike Seth to get the game started for the Switchbacks. Jordan Burt doubled the Switchbacks lead with a left footed shot from 20 yards out. Switchbacks newest signing, Ismaila Jome, played a ground cross to Mike Seth for his second goal of the game. Seth turned into the provider when he played in Jordan Schweitzer, who scored to make it 4-0 going into the half.

The second half the Switchbacks fielded a team that comprised of Colorado Rapids academy players, trialists, and invited players from the open tryouts a couple weeks ago. Each team scored in the second half to end the day with a 5-1 Switchbacks victory.

Colorado Springs, CO (February 8, 2018) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today their promotions calendar for the 2019 season highlighted by four fireworks nights (March 16th, June 22nd, July 4th, and October 5th) and the second-ever Star Wars Night (June 8th).

The Switchbacks home opener is on March 16th with a St. Paddy's Day Celebration with green beer and a post-match fireworks show at Weidner Field. This year, the Switchbacks are hosting their first ever fireworks show on July 4th, with it being the biggest in Switchbacks history to fit the occasion! The Switchbacks will also be extending their $1 beer at gates open throughout the entire 2019 season. Full 16oz delicious beer for $1, you can literally buy a Switchbacks ticket and 2-5 beers and it will be less expensive than going to any bar and restaurant and buying just 2-5 beers.

Popular promotion items are returning such as winter beanies (March 23, presented by Waste Connections), hats (June 1st, presented by Pikes Peak Brewing), vuvuzelas (May 18th, presented by General Dynamics), cowbells (August 7th, presented by Centura Orthopedics), back to school backpacks (August 10th, presented by GE Johnson), Super Hero Night (September 7th, presented by the Children's Hospital Colorado), and a bobblehead (September 28th, presented by FOX21 News).

Switchbacks FC Signs Versatile Ismaila Jome

The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced today the signing of Ismaila "Ish" Jome, pending USL Championship and USSF approval.

"Ish is a big addition to the team. He is a technical and dynamic attacking defender and he has quality to get in the attack and ability to find the final pass," said Switchbacks head coach, Steve Trittschuh. "He has a lot of experience and will fit in perfectly with the way we play."

Jome has played the role of a winger as well as a wing back in his professional experience, using his speed and footwork to create space down the flanks. He scored just seven minutes into his professional debut with Minnesota United FC in the NASL before transitioning to MLS in 2017 with Minnesota. The 24-year-old most recently spent the 2018 season with Nashville SC in the USL. Jome supplied two assists in 19 appearances last season for Nashville SC.

"I'm happy to be joining the Switchbacks this season as it's an exciting franchise in the USL Championship in a great city," said Jome. "I look forward to doing my best to help the team get back into the playoffs and compete for a championship."
